Weekend & Sports Editor, BBC Radio Derby
Radio Derby enjoys a reputation for lively, upbeat programmes and distinctive journalism. We are now looking for a talented individual to be a member of the management team in the role of Weekend & Sports Editor, directing an important part of our output.
Taking charge of our weekend programming and our sports output throughout the week, you’ll work a Thursday-Monday week and lead our weekend and sports teams in producing a range of popular programmes. These include our two weekend breakfast shows, our Saturday afternoon sports programme and our programmes aimed at the local Asian and African Caribbean communities. You’ll also take on other responsibilities on an ad hoc basis
Are you the right candidate?
You’ll have significant experience as a radio producer, be comfortable making editorial decisions and relish managing highly motivated teams. An understanding of the BBC Local Radio audience – and of diverse audiences in particular – is essential. You’ll know why sport is so important here and you’ll have an appreciation of the digital future.
