Journalist, BBC Radio Devon – Freelance Pool
BBC Radio Devon broadcasts to one of the biggest counties in the country from BBC South West’s regional base in Plymouth. Editorially, Devon is a changing landscape, our agriculture, marine and tourism industries are ever-changing, and new investment is transforming our heritage. The stories are challenging, programmes get our audiences talking and we reflect the real sense of pride people have in where they live.
We’re looking for talented radio producers, reporters, and newsreaders, researchers, programme support workers to become part of our essential talent pool – the people we call on to cover holiday, sickness and to our production team when we need some additional support.
We need freelancers to cover project work, leave, weekends and for other ad-hoc reasons.
Whether you can read bulletins, set up or produce programmes, research stories or have another radio-specific skill, we’d love to hear from you!
Are you the right candidate?
You’ll need to have an element of radio experience, whether in the BBC or commercial sector. Do please make your experience clear in your application.
If you can read bulletins, we need to know you’ve got a great voice and can write clearly and succinctly. Please include a demo of your recent work.
If you’re a programmes person, you’ll need to be creative, organised and bursting with ideas.
Or if your experience is more research-focused, we need to know about your resilience and nose for a story.
Experience of the ViLoR studio setup and OpenMedia is desirable but not essential.
