The Role

The Assistant Programme & Content Director (APD) role will work closely with the Programme & Content Director (PD) to lead the on air content teams, ensuring they produce content and programming which meets the creative and commercial needs of Today FM.

Responsibilities, Skills & Qualifications

The primary focus of this role is to drive audience growth across all platforms. This will be achieved by creating quality music and entertainment content for Live FM audio output and across a number of digital platforms – including digital, social and video.

You will work collaboratively across Marketing, Sales and Finance functions. You must continually review and refresh content output, and work across the organisation to devise new ways to attract and retain audiences, and to contribute to Today FM’s success.

What you’ll do

You will:

Work with the Programme & Content Director to deliver the key audience growth objectives considering the characteristics of the target audience
Assist the Programme & Content Director in all elements of the on air programming department’s development and implementation of the content strategy of the brand. This includes driving content development, on air production and show team development plans. Update all on-air and production teams with relevant programming material e.g. promotions, events etc. Responsible for on-air schedule rosters and will cover presenters; to ensure at all times that the schedule reflects the core brand values of Today FM
Contribute to the development of Today FM’s content plan and aid in it coordination, broadcasting and publishing.  You will also work with the Programme team to develop the next generation of on air stars.
Work with the Programme & Content Director and Head of Music to assist in the implementation of the Today FM music strategy through music monitoring & structure review.
Assist the Programme & Content Director in implementing the objectives and format of the Today FM brand, representing the stations brand values at all times.
Play a key role in the management of the production department and all station sound and imaging.
Ensure the station/brand output conforms to all BAI regulations and requirements, and assist with monitoring reports to the BAI. Responding to complaints, where appropriate, in line with BAI guidelines.
Work directly & creatively with the Commercial Programme team to deliver market leading solutions to help maximize promotion and sponsorship opportunities and revenue.
Operation of software and systems – e.g. RCS Master Control.
