About the Role 

 

Off the Ball is seeking an experienced, creative, and ambitious Breakfast Producer to lead the editorial agenda and spark national conversation. In this role, you will play a key part in shaping the sound and direction of the show, overseeing the creation and delivery of innovative, high-impact content across broadcast and digital platforms. You will work closely with presenters, contributors, and the wider team to produce compelling, agenda-setting programming that informs, entertains, and engages audiences, helping to grow and strengthen Off the Ball’s reach and influence.

 

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead the morning production and digital team to produce best in class journalism and content that grows our audience across audio and video and hits weekly, monthly and yearly KPI's.
  • Deliver content related sponsorship and solutions campaigns for OTB's commercial partners. Working within an existing framework, with a close attention to detail, to ensure accurate delivery of commercial activity.
  • Put in place a process to track content performance - giving regular feedback to the morning production team and the senior leadership team.
  • Make courageous editorial decisions to strengthen Off The Ball's position as the go to brand for agenda setting sports content. Book the best guests and contributors while continuing to develop OTB's inhouse talent.
  • Develop new audio and video products, concepts, segments etc...
  • Use and adapt to new technology and platforms and media trends to ensure OTB stays ahead of the curve.
  • Manage staff rostering for the morning team, have a continuous recruitment and training process to ensure adequate freelance cover. Complete regular reviews for direct reports as per company guidelines.
  • Manage programming budget and contributor payments.
  • Contribute on air as required
  • Work with the senior leadership team around future audience and commercial growth
  • Contribute to other areas of the business as requested by your line manager

  • You have experience managing strong on air personalities to maximise performance
  • You can spot and develop stories that get people talking
  • You have excellent knowledge of defamation law and BAI Codes of Conduct
  • You have a broad range of interests
  • You’re a self-starter who can identify, pitch and develop items for broadcast
  • You are proficient in recording and editing and the workings of digital and social media
  • You have excellent radio production and radio craft skills
  • You are driven by ambition to succeed
  • You work well under pressure and to deadlines

  • The ideal candidate will have at least three years’ experience in a similar role, managing content output, programme teams and presenting talent in a broadcast environment
  • Qualification in journalism or a related discipline
  • Previous experience working in the sports media industry and or, radio production
  • Knowledge of libel and defamation laws.
