Description

Award winning radio production company Made in Manchester is seeking a part time Northern Classical Talent & Story Producer (£17,000 - 16 hours pw) for a 12 month development role.
You’ll help uncover and champion classical stories, musicians and ideas across the North of England and North Wales, building a sustainable pipeline of content for future commissions.
Working flexibly from anywhere in the region, you’ll map emerging and established talent, build relationships with orchestras, brass bands, conservatoires, festivals and independent musicians, and identify stories shaped by the North’s landscapes, histories and communities. You’ll create programme pilots and regular classical features that reflect the  region’s distinctive musical identity. Some travel will be required, with expenses covered for agreed journeys. Your working pattern will be flexible and reviewed regularly with the Made in Manchester team.
We’re looking for someone with a very strong passion for and knowledge of classical music — both traditional and contemporary — and preferably demonstrable experience within the classical world, including relevant contacts across the region. Curiosity is an essential ingredient, alongside scripting, interviewing and basic editing skills. You should be confident engaging with repertoire from Mozart and Brahms to Rodrigo, Ravel, Vaughan Williams, Shostakovich and living composers.
To apply, send your CV, a short statement explaining why you want the role and  what you would bring to it to info@madeinmanchester.tv. Closing date: 28 March. Interviews from 30th March.  Appointment begins 13 April.
