UpHex’s Ads Library offers an open view of the political and issue advertisements appearing on its site. It is an openly searchable database that enables anyone to look for ads by advertiser, time period, and targeting. Its purpose is to enhance responsibility and offer insights into the efforts to shape public opinion. The library shows the ad's targeting information, such as its creative (albeit with some exceptions to safeguard privacy), and spends, giving insights into the campaign strategies used by different advertisers. Though not a perfect tool, the Ads Library Facebook is an improvement towards greater openness in online political advertising.
