The Cat Community Radio CIC

Company Information

The Cat is registered as a Community Interest Company. A CIC is a special type of limited company which exists to benefit the community rather than private shareholders.

We are your local community broadcast partner, broadcasting from the heart of the community.

Our long term goal was the provision of a full time community radio station for Crewe, Nantwich, the surrounding villages and rural areas. This came to fruition on Tuesday 26th February 2014 when Ofcom announced that The Cat Community Radio was the winning bid for the community radio licence in South Cheshire.

We began broadcasting on 107.9 FM on Feburary 14th 2015.

You can hear us on 107.9 FM locally as well as here, online via a computer or mobile device on thisisthecat.com, via the app on Apple and Android devices, and via smart speakers.

The Cat is a not-for-profit organisation, run entirely by volunteers.

Over the last decade we have established ourselves as a local service provider, and we continue to build and maintain strong links with the community by offering cost effective advertising, training opportunities and a diverse line-up of high quality on air programming.

We also attend and broadcast from many local events, and raise awareness of local services, groups and charities through our hourly community bulletins.
