Description

We’re a passionate and creative bunch here at JACK and we’re looking for someone with a genuine passion for news, brimming with original story ideas, to join our ambitious team.

In 2021, our Journalists bagged FIVE nominations in the IRN Awards, plus our first British Podcast Award nod in the 'current affairs' category with The Oxfordshire News Podcast.

We're a small team that produces a LOT of news, reading hourly bulletins on three stations, JACKfm, JACK 2 Hits and JACK 3 Chill.

Yes, we’re looking for someone with a great voice, but you'll also have plenty of opportunity to get out-and-about reporting, as we cover the news and views of the whole of Oxfordshire.

One day you could be off to a drugs raid with Thames Valley Police, the next you might be reporting from local council elections ... or joining a climate change protest in Oxford!

You'll be sourcing and writing stories, conducting and editing interviews and creating content for our website and Twitter pages, plus helping to present and produce features for our news podcast.

Also, if you're interested in getting involved in stuff outside of news, we'd love to hear your ideas - nobody here at JACK does just one job.

The news team recently helped to raise £63,000 during a 24-hour live broadcast from Ronald McDonald House in Oxford, where we shared the heart-breaking stories of the parents who use the facilities whilst their children were very unwell in hospital.

Later this month, the breakfast show (including our News Editor) will be heading off to Le Touquet in France – in a pimped-up old taxi - for the very wacky Twin Town charity challenge.

If you'd like to join the JACK family - and have a media law qualification - please get in touch!

We're ideally looking for someone with experience working in a radio newsroom (or similar role) – but there’s also plenty of opportunity to learn and grow and you’ll be supported with your development.

Please send your CV and an MP3 demo, including a news bulletin and an example of your reporting skills, to our News Editor at jo.summerbell@jackfm.co.uk

JACK Media Oxfordshire Ltd is an equal opportunities employer, we actively encourage applicants from diverse backgrounds in order to shape the future success of our growing audio business.
