Bauer needs to win new audiences in new ways. This Content Director will therefore lead on the future way of collecting, selecting, and organizing of audio and visual content that you can listen to, look at, experience live and get locally in our Apps, on our websites and any future digital Bauer platforms.

Role Responsibility

This person will be working closely with the Content Directors of Bauer’s portfolio of radio stations, to represent how live radio, on-demand shows and features, playlists and podcasts are listened to on a digital product. They will also work closely with our video, social and News teams, on how best to present this content in an App/website.

They need to be experienced and knowledgeable about the way audio and visual content is currently presented and consumed on Apps/websites and Skills in the marketplace both in the UK and internationally. And have creative ideas about the opportunities Bauer must implement to increase our content’s reach, engagement and hours on these platforms. They will also need to have experience of collaborating with marketing teams to highlight content for promotion and be able to give examples that have driven greater reach and engagement across platforms.

Reporting to the Chief Content and Music Officer this person must also work closely with the Chief Operating Officer and research teams to look at content that they believe will be attractive to audiences that we currently don’t provide across our portfolio. And to examine with the Premium Audio+ team what content sits within our subscription service and what content remains free to consumers.

And finally, they must have a constant dialogue with our Central Digital Team to ensure the functionality of our digital products deliver an aspirational, logical and beautiful content experience.

The Ideal Candidate

Key skills and attributes required for the role:

  • Creative content leader with proven success at leading complex programming teams
  • Knowledge and experience of digital platforms and content that engages on those platforms
  • Strong interpersonal and influencer skills able to work collaboratively and effectively across teams
  • Forward thinking and innovative mindset capable of spotting and exploiting new opportunities on digital platforms
  • Knowledge and understanding of brand and product attributes that are able to be extended and stretched onto new platforms
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and uncertainty
  • Open minded willingness to learn and evolve in a rapidly changing environment

Delivered skills and how these are demonstrated:

  • Knowledge and experience of on-demand audio, speech and non-linear content on digital formats
  • Understanding of monetization strategies for digital content
  • Experience of working within a digital-first content business
