We're in an unusual position right now at Gaydio Brighton. Out local evening 'opt-out' from the Gaydio Network launched earlier this year to fanfare in the local press, impressive initial audience growth and with a presenter at the helm who'd been on a peak time show in the city for near-on fifteen years previously.

Then COVID-19 struck and as well as disrupting most things across the country, our new evening presenter caught it - and has been one of those who've developed 'long tail' symptoms that have been quite unpredictable and debilitating.

This is an unusual proposition - but might suit someone who's recently come off air and wants to keep their toe in the industry while the dust settles and they take stock. It's a great opportunity for someone to try something different too.

You need to be self-sufficient, enthusiastic and be able to provide compelling local content for our audience of LGBT+ Brightonians and their allies - four nights a week for two hours.

The show's VT'd and could be created off-patch using RVT if you've got a stable internet connection and a decent mic. We're well over requirement in terms of provision of hours created in the TSA.

I'd like to think of this in a similar way to a maternity cover. It's unlikely to lead to the gig being yours full time, but might be a way to open doors both within Gaydio and externally.

As these are hours pertaining to the delivery of our community radio obligations connected to the Brighton FM license - and especially given the current climate - I'm not able to pay you... that said, we firmly believe that volunteering should be a two-way street and exactly what that means will depend on what you're looking to get out of it.

If you're interested in talking about the opportunity, send over some audio and a brief introductory email to alex @gaydio.co.uk by Friday September 4th.

Note: You'll need to delete the space between the word alex and @gaydio.co.uk that I've whacked in deliberately to stop my email address being hoovered up automatically by the bots that create spammy mailing lists!
