Job Description

Digital Content Editor - Global Player

Reporting of the role

This role reports to the Digital Content Director and Director of Podcasts.

Overview of job

The purpose of this role is to develop and handle visual and editorial content for Global Player across the app and its digital and social channels. Working alongside a dedicated video producer, you’ll help create high impact, engaging content aligned with all of Global’s Radio Brands. You’ll also work across the rapidly growing slate of original podcasts we produce with some of the biggest celebrities and journalists in the UK.

This is a fast-paced role for a digital content expert with a strong grasp of what engages digital audiences. Candidates should have a clear understanding of digital and social platforms and how best to optimise content for maximum organic distribution.

You should ideally have experience working in a campaign model when it comes to content delivery and are comfortable using digital insight tools to help drive your decision making.

Measures of success -

In the first few months, you would have:

  • Drive a significant uplift in engagement and views on Global Player’s digital/social channels
  • Helped create and implement a video and content strategy for the launch of major new podcasts!
  • Drive new users into Global Player.

Responsibilities of the role

  • Build strong visual and editorial GP content optimised for social/video platforms and website articles.
  • Work closely and collaborate with the rest of the Global Digital and Broadcast and Marketing teams.
  • Work with the internal video team to develop ideas, produce series and showcase on-air clips that drive views and increase engagement to Global Player.
  • Work with the wider digital teams to help support daily conversations about Global Player content across our social media platforms.
  • Generate ideas and produce social content with a strong focus on sharing, engagement and driving users to Global Player

What you will need

The ideal candidate will be proactive and willing to develop and implement innovative solutions, capable of the following:

  • Lives and breathes digital content & social media
  • Has a wide-ranging passion and understanding of content, news and entertainment.
  • Experience in creating and developing a digital presence (blog, video channel, social account etc.)
  • Strong communication skills - written and verbal.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Relevant journalism/digital content experience.
  • Excellent knowledge all of our brands.
  • Self-starting, enterprising and ready to deliver ideas.
  • Experience using Photoshop.
  • Experience with video editing and production.
  • Experience with digital and social analytics.
  • Basic understanding of our key broadcast channels.
  • Keen to work for a busy, fast paced and high-profile radio, podcasting and digital brands.
  • Loves working across different fields: writing, design and video.
