Description

kmfm is Kent’s Radio Station broadcasting to a TSA of 1.3million people. Independently owned by the Iliffe Group, our portfolio also includes local TV, digital, app and print titles.

Our Head of Music role in Kent has become available and we are looking for new talent to help us plan, schedule and deliver our CHR/HOT AC music strategy in Kent.

This is not just a scheduling role. We are looking for someone that loves pop music, has experience in this or a similar role, is driven, able to work as part of a team as well as on your own, can lead on music strategy and deliver Kent’s Biggest Hits to our audience.

This role will be based at our studios in Rochester Kent (ME2 4DU).

Your day to day will consist of:

  • scheduling music output for kmfm
  • managing the playlist/new music additions using stats from platforms including Radio Monitor, Streaming stats and our own research
  • working with the programming team on music specials/projects
  • working with production to ensure sponsorship audio is loaded correctly alongside any new imaging
  • forward planning looking at gigs/events with playlist artists
  • programming specialist shows/features (Pop Anthems/Floorfillers /Hit List)
  • combing music logs/timing out to ensure kmfm sounds the best it can
  • liaising with pluggers/labels and kmfm talent to manage interviews
  • liaising with PRS/PPL on reports for kmfm stations
  • going to gigs occasionally to see new artists
  • integrate our traffic logs at the end of the day

You will:

  • have extensive knowledge of RCS G Selector and ideally RCS Zetta playout
  • have thorough clock knowledge and be able to tweak and build clocks within GS
  • be able to build, plan and host weekly playlist meetings with Head of Broadcast/Programmers
  • have regular meetings with label representatives/pluggers
  • understand adobe audition
  • know your way around a digital radio studio
  • occasionally aid talent with ‘in studio’ interviews either via Cleanfeed or in our vision studio
  • have a thorough understanding of G Suite and used to using/reading Excel Spreadsheets
  • be confident in talking to talent about new music and educate presenters where needed
