Our Team
We’re a small team with big ambition at Scala Radio.  We are all about multi-tasking, prioritising our busy day and communication is key, whether that be with our listeners, our advertisers, record labels or each other.

The focus of your role
To drive audience growth by contributing to the delivery of exceptional musical output across Scala Radio and all its platforms.

What you’ll do
You’ll be responsible for scheduling exceptional station music logs for programmes across the station with appropriate consideration of the stations target audiences.

As a key part of the music team, you will support the Head of Music, Content Director and the Scala programming team with musical expertise and by means of programme scheduling.

You will contribute to the building and maintenance of the Scala playlist, including the uploading of new releases and back catalogue.  An eye for detail is essential – you are a stickler for accuracy and consistency. You’ll also use that eye for detail to monitor music information provided for non-playlist shows to ensure complete information.

You will provide music content support for producers, presenters and other team members - for live programming, specialist and non-playlist shows, as well as off-air activity and digital content.

Other duties and responsibilities will include:

  • To pitch and project manage creative music and entertainment ideas for new series, one-off specials and station-wide programming initiatives, along with new social media content.
  • Ad hoc production responsibilities
  • To have a good understanding of target audiences’ tastes through experience and research and create relevant content.
  • Liaising with record labels and artist management companies to secure content, ensuring Scala Radio represents classical music in the modern world.
  • Any other reasonable duties as delegated by the Content Director and Head of Music.

What you’ll bring
Thorough knowledge of classical music is essential, and you’ll also be aware of the contemporary classical music scene, as well as showtunes, film, television and videogame scores. If there are gaps in your knowledge, you’ll demonstrate a keenness to learn more about key labels, musicians and composers.

You should have experience of working within music radio and a good working knowledge of GSelector Scheduling Software and Zetta playout systems, as well as Adobe Audition editing software.

You should be able to build positive working relationships with individuals in the on-air and off-air team.

You must be able to work to tight deadlines and in high pressure environment and have excellent time management skills and the ability to adapt to last-minute changes.  You’ll need to be confident enough to work alone, without direction and must be a team player with a positive attitude and initiative.

What we’ll offer you
Quite simply, our promise to you is that Bauer Media is a great place to do great work with great people. Our people take an enormous amount of pride in the brands they support. They like their team members, and they feel supported by their managers. We have created a working environment where all our people feel able to bring their whole selves to work every day. It’s part of everything we do, and everyone who works here is responsible. If you join us, you’ll be an important part of this as well.

If you think you’d be great at this job and would love working with us, we’d love to hear from you. To apply, you’ll need to send your CV and covering letter to Bauer Media
