Radio Presenter/Producer – Edinburgh
Description
BFBS, the Forces Station, wants to hear from you if you’re an experienced Radio Presenter-Producer excited to start the day for the British Forces audience in Scotland.
We currently have a vacancy for a brilliant broadcaster able to embrace our mission to entertain, inform, connect and champion serving British Forces personnel and their families in Scotland.
This six-month fixed-term contract will see you host BFBS Scotland Breakfast live from our studios at Dreghorn Barracks in Edinburgh. You’ll be broadcasting to people in the local military community, focused on serving personnel and their families.
Your breakfast show will feature your own high-quality speech packages and innovative interactive features, alongside our mix of new music and classic hits. This role is a full-time job, with content gathering and production responsibilities outside of your on-air show times.
We are looking for a candidate who can start with us in mid-June, and be on-air by 1 July.
You will have:
- Significant experience of presenting live music radio programmes in a self-op studio, using industry-standard playout and scheduling systems. We need someone for whom a radio studio is already like a second home.
- Experience of researching, recording, producing and editing speech content – such as interviews, packages, documentaries or podcasts. We need someone who will get out and about amongst the Forces community and tell their stories.
- An eagerness to learn about Forces life, and support and connect military communities. Previous experience in military life is not a requirement, but you’ll be interested in learning quickly.
- Experience of broadcasting in Scotland, ideally in the Central Belt, and a proven ability to connect with Scottish audiences.
- A full driving licence – most military bases are in remote locations, and we’ll need you to be able to drive yourself around the Forces community.
If you have any questions or require more clarity about the role and what to expect, feel free to contact opportunities@bfbs.com
