Scheduling Assistant, BBC 5 LIve
5 Live is a national BBC radio speech station based in Salford, covering news, sport and topical, entertaining conversation.
BBC Radio 5 Live attracts circa 5 million listeners every week with its accessible, contemporary programming.
The Scheduling Assistant, reporting to the 5 Live Scheduling Manager, is responsible for the maintaining of the 5 Live and 5 Live Sports Extra broadcast schedule. This involves gathering information from a range of sources and programme teams, and converting it into the public facing schedule for our networks. They are also required to review, and occasionally edit pre-recorded content for broadcast, co-ordinate production requirements for the schedule, and to support the Scheduling Manager and the wider 5 Live management team in planning 5 Live’s output across the year.
The Ideal Candidate
In addition to a knowledge and passion for 5 Live output, you will ideally have excellent IT skills with experience of Microsoft Office software, and the ability to pick up new software and technologies in a high pressure, fast moving environment. You will have to demonstrable the ability to write creative and accurate copy for publication across a range of platforms, and have some experience of audio editing or audio/video production at any level. You will need to be well organised, with good time management and excellent attention to detail, with a pro-active approach to problem solving and anticipating problems. You will also be a confident communicator with the ability to liaise with a range of people across different teams.
A good understanding of the radio and digital audio media landscape is desirable.
