Your role:
talkSPORT.com, one of the leading sports news websites, is seeking a dynamic, passionate and experienced digital journalist to take on a new and pivotal role in our team. As US Sports Editor, you will manage a team of writers and will be responsible for curating and producing high-quality sports content targeted to an American audience. You will be writing and editing articles across a wide range of sports, including but not limited to American football, basketball, boxing, golf, mixed martial arts and soccer. You will be based in our offices in London Bridge and will report to the talkSPORT.com editor.

 

Day to day you will:

  • Write and publish news and feature articles targeted to a US audience
  • Keep up-to-date with the latest trends, news and developments in US sports to provide accurate and insightful coverage
  • Manage a team of writers and contributors, providing support, direction and feedback
  • Ensure content meets editorial standards, including accuracy, grammar, style and tone
  • Take guidance from SEO and audience team to deliver content that targets trending topics and will resonate with US audiences
  • Develop and maintain editorial planning calendar and create unique and timely content around biggest sporting events in US
  • Work closely with the talkSPORT.com editor to meet traffic and revenue targets, ensuring key metrics are achieved
  • Coordinate with social media, video and programming teams to promote and optimise content across various platforms
  • Lead on brainstorming sessions and offer creative ideas for new content initiatives


What we’re looking for from you: 

  • Proven experience as a sports writer, preferably with a focus on US sports
  • Extensive knowledge of and passion for sport
  • Experience of running a team and people management
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • A creative mind and a drive to produce engaging and relevant content
  • Unflappable under pressure and delivers work at a consistently high standard
  • Self-motivated, organised, and a positive can-do attitude
  • Strong understanding of SEO best practices and web analytics tools
  • Knowledge of wordpress content management system or similar
  • Flexibility and willingness to work at unsociable times to cover major sports events live in the US
