About the role
We are seeking freelance news and sports readers to add to our freelance panel for Cork's Good Times, RedFM.
The initial focus of this opportunity is to script, compile and read news and sports bulletins on RedFM
The successful panel of freelance news and sports broadcasters will support the work of the radio news and sports team and will report to the News and Sports Editors of Cork's RedFM.
What you’ll do
- Write accurate, clear, and concise news and sports copy
- Deliver hourly news and sports bulletins in a fluent and confident manner which engages with the tone of voice of RedFM's target audience
- Edit audio clips for news and sports and conduct interviews as necessary
- Identify stories of interest to our target audience in the correct order
- Demonstrate a knowledge of local news and sport
- Attend matches, press conferences and events on behalf of RedFM
- Be aware of social media trends and knowing what is accurate on those platforms
- Confidently interact with presenters where appropriate while maintaining journalistic integrity
If the following traits sound like you, you might be the right person to join our freelance panel:
- Engaging personality and a positive attitude
- A good voice and the ability to write well and broadcast fluently
- Good knowledge of local news stories
- Thorough working knowledge of the laws of libel
- Superb judgement and excellent references
- A qualification in journalism and / or experience in broadcasting is preferable but not essential.
