Your role: As an IT &  Broadcast Systems Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth operation of our broadcast and IT systems, supporting the delivery of high-quality content to audiences of Cork’s 96FM; C103 and Live95.   Reporting to the Head of IT and Broadcast Engineering – Southern Hub, you will be the go-to expert for technical troubleshooting, system maintenance, and innovation within the broadcast environment.

Day to day you will:

  • Provide technical support for live broadcasts, pre-recorded productions, and digital content delivery across all platforms.
  • Maintain, repair, and upgrade broadcast and IT equipment, including servers, routers, systems, and editing suites.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot signal paths, transmission systems, and IP-based workflows to ensure uninterrupted service.
  • Assist in the implementation of new technologies and workflows, ensuring smooth integration with existing systems.
  • Work closely with production teams, IT staff, and other departments to resolve technical issues and provide solutions promptly.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of system configurations, workflows, and maintenance schedules.
  • Support the Head of IT and Broadcast Engineering with project planning and execution, ensuring deadlines and budgets are met.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, health and safety regulations, and company policies.
  • Participate in an on-call rota to provide out-of-hours support as required.

What we are looking from you:

  • Proven experience in a broadcast engineering or similar technical role, ideally within a live or studio-based production environment.
  • Strong understanding of broadcast systems, including video, audio, and IP-based workflows.
  • Familiarity with broadcast automation systems, playout servers, and editing software.
  • Knowledge of IT infrastructure, including networking, virtualisation, and cloud-based systems.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical colleagues.
  • A proactive and adaptable approach to work, with a commitment to continuous learning and development.
  • Relevant qualifications in broadcast engineering, electronics, or IT are desirable.
