About the Role

We are recruiting an experienced Managing Editor for Newstalk, Ireland’s national independent talk radio station with a weekly audience of over 850,000 listeners and a significant and growing digital and social audience.

This pivotal role within Bauer Media Audio Ireland and Irish media requires a candidate with significant experience and exceptional leadership skills that is tuned into audiences.

You will be responsible for overseeing the planning and execution of high quality trusted content that that grows engagement and delivers commercial success with a focus on ensuring cohesive and comprehensive representation of Conversation That Counts across all platforms, with a particular emphasis on digital audio and podcasting.

As Managing Editor you will lead a high performing editorial team, fostering a collaborative environment that encourages creativity, innovation and journalistic excellence.

You will play a key role in shaping our long-term strategic and editorial vision, identifying trends, and spearheading special projects and initiatives that align with Newstalk’s ambitions and values.

This job is based in our Dublin office.

What you will do:

• Develop and implement editorial strategies that align with Newstalk’s mission and engage our target audience.
• Lead and empower the editorial team in planning, producing, and delivering high-quality multi-platform audio content to ensure Newstalk is a leading force in content creation and audience engagement.
• Foster a collaborative and innovative culture, mentoring and supporting staff to drive team development.
• Ensure the accuracy, fairness, and balance of all content, maintaining the highest journalistic standards and ensure compliance with all relevant broadcast and legal guidelines.
• Stay abreast of industry trends and audience preferences, adapting content and delivery methods to stay relevant and competitive.
• Oversee resource allocation to ensure efficient and effective operation of Newstalk.
• Build strong relations internally and externally with key stakeholders and presentation and production talent.
• Collaborate across Bauer teams on content and promotional efforts to bring our content to audiences in connected and relevant ways.
• Work closely with our commercial teams to drive strong content led commercial partnerships.

• Exceptional organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities, working at speed in a competitive, rapidly changing industry.
