Description

South East Radio, one of Ireland’s leading independent local radio stations, is seeking a Programme Controller to take creative and strategic responsibility for our on-air sound and online content across County Wexford.

This is an exciting leadership opportunity for a talented, passionate broadcaster who understands how to connect with local audiences, whether on-air, online and on the ground.

The successful candidate will oversee all elements of programming, including talent, scheduling and presentation standards. You’ll shape the brand and sound of South East Radio, ensuring every minute of output reflects our values, engages our community and supports our commercial objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the day-to-day running of all programmes, ensuring consistently high-quality content that meets both creative and commercial goals.
  • Work with the on-air and production teams to generate fresh, topical and audience-focused ideas for shows and station promotions.
  • Understand our audience — their tastes, lifestyle and listening habits — and ensure that insight informs everything we broadcast.
  • Oversee music policy, branding and imaging, content repurposing and online distribution, and creative responses to sales briefs.
  • Develop and coach presenters, holding regular feedback sessions to maintain and improve performance.
  • Commercial awareness, efficient management skills and knowledge of broadcaster funding opportunities.
  • Ensure all output complies with regulatory and legal requirements.
  • Respond to listener feedback and help drive continuous improvement in output quality.

What You’ll Bring

  • Proven experience in radio production, presentation or management.
  • Strong leadership, communication and mentoring ability.
  • A solid understanding of the Irish radio landscape and audience demographics.
  • Technical proficiency in production and scheduling software (e.g. Adobe Audition, RCS Zetta, Selector or similar).
  • The ability to thrive under pressure, meet deadlines, and balance creative and commercial priorities.
  • Energy, innovation and a genuine passion for local radio.

What We Offer

  • A key leadership role in one of Ireland’s most respected and successful local stations.
  • Competitive salary and performance-based incentives.
  • Opportunities for training, professional development and creative freedom.
  • A supportive, collaborative culture that values initiative and new ideas.
  • The chance to make a real impact in the media landscape of the Sunny South East.

If you’re ready to shape the next chapter of South East Radio, we’d love to hear from you.
