Description
Main Role Purpose:
To support the day to day sales activities, and submitting a range of funding applications for the station under the supervision of the Sustainability & Business Development Manager. This role will also be responsible for all aspects of the fundraising activities with the organisation.
Key Task Areas:
- Identifying new sales opportunities through customer referrals, as well recommending improvements to current sales.
- Informing potential and existing customers of company promotions and preparing accurate sales and expense reports for the Board and Manager.
- Researching grant-making organizations and applying for funding, and approaching businesses, local authorities, and individuals to encourage donations.
- Organising and helping with fundraising activities such as sponsored or promotional events, as well as developing and coordinating web-based fundraising, online auctions, and sales.
- Increasing funds by researching and targeting charitable trusts whose criteria match the charity’s aims and activities.
- To keep the station safe, clean and tidy.
- To attend relevant training sessions.

Skills & Knowledge Essential:
- The ability to undertake instruction and act upon to achieve results
- The ability to communicate effectively with your line Manager

- The ability to manage a programme of work with focus
- The ability to prioritise and deliver on tasks without supervision
- The ability to write and communicate succinctly and clearly
- The ability to use and maintain computer systems.
- Good working knowledge of using Microsoft Suite.
- The ability to form good working relationships with people from a wide range of social, cultural and ethnic backgrounds
Desirable
- An understanding of media advertising (online, radio, print, OOH)
- Knowledge of the local media market
- Familiarity with fundraising landscape for the not-for-profit sector

- The ability to be tactful and sensitive but assertive when appropriate
Experience, Qualifications, Training Essential:
- Be able to communicate and negotiate new sales as well as keeping existing clients.
- Writing scripts and working with advertisers, and for creating/assisting final advert for airplay.
- Be knowledgeable and skilled with computing hardware and software programs, networking systems, managing databases, website design and maintenance
- Able to learn new software & computing systems quickly and proficiently
