Digital Content Producer, Capital Breakfast

Reporting of the role

This role reports to the Digital Managing Editor, Capital

Overview of job

The purpose of this role is to manage and produce social media and editorial output for Capital’s flagship radio programme, Capital Breakfast with Roman Kemp. You’ll focus on growing Capital Breakfast’s presence across key social platforms, through the creation and optimisation of content for organic social. Strong, engaging copywriting and a deep understanding of social media are essential for this role, as well as a passion for pop culture and social trends.

You will be passionate about crafting engaging, on-brand digital content, that ultimately increases awareness of Capital Breakfast and Global Player and drives listeners.

You’ll be part of the Capital Digital team, and work closely with the Capital Breakfast show team day-to-day. This role is for a morning person - you’ll be office/studio-based Monday-Friday, 5:00-13:30.

In the first few months, you would have:

  • Fully immersed yourself in the world of Capital, from the music we play to the key people and themes we cover online and on social media.
  • Created and produced highly engaging social content, including video formats with celebrity guests and our Capital Breakfast presenters.
  • Collaborated with colleagues in the digital team, video team and across the brand to ensure our social output is outstanding.
  • Shown your skills as a hard-working team player who is enthusiastic, punctual, reliable and thrives in a fast-paced working environment.

Responsibilities of the role

  • You’ll do everything from producing video clips from studio content with an editor, making memes and filming TikToks with the presenters and guests, to conceiving and producing video features with the Capital video team and Breakfast team. This is a fast-paced role for a creative individual with digital content skills and a strong grasp of what engages audiences on social.
  • Drive engagement and relevance of Capital Breakfast content across all key social platforms by staying on top of the latest trends, conversations, and platform best practices.
  • Write and publish website articles related to the show’s guest output.
  • Collaborate and work alongside the Capital Digital team to knowledge-share and contribute to a coherent content schedule which drives social engagement and increases Global Player users.
  • Collaborate with the Capital Breakfast show team on content ideas, advising on social best practice and trends.
  • Generate ideas and produce social content with a strong focus on driving engagement, sharing and traffic. This should include multi-media content with a heavy focus on video across all platforms.
  • Focus on the growth of Capital Breakfast’s video content, working closely with the Capital Breakfast video editor and the wider Capital video team to ensure video is optimised for each platform

What you will need

The ideal candidate will be proactive and willing to develop and implement innovative solutions, capable of the following:

  • An excellent understanding of social media and creating engaging, optimised content for different platforms with a particular focus on TikTok and Instagram.
  • High proficiency in using Adobe Photoshop and Premiere Pro.
  • Fantastic communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Skilled in writing captivating and engaging social copy
  • A great understanding of social analytics.
  • Able to meet deadlines in a fast-paced working environment.
  • Ability to work across multiple campaigns and adapt quickly to last minute changes.
  • Experience of working in social or digital for a publisher or broadcaster.
  • Understanding of defamation and libel laws and familiarity with the OFCOM broadcasting code.
  • Has a passion for pop music, pop culture, social trends and entertainment.
  • Thrives in a team and leaves a positive impact.
