Description
kmfm is looking to expand its pool of freelance newsreaders to cover weekend shifts, broadcasting live from our studios in Rochester, Kent.
This is an exciting opportunity to deliver accurate, engaging, and locally focused news bulletins for Kent’s only truly local commercial radio station.
The Role
- Present live news bulletins from our Rochester studios
- Deliver clear, compelling, and relevant stories for a broad local audience
- Demonstrate strong editorial judgement and an understanding of local news priorities
- Work confidently and independently, often as the sole journalist on shift
- Use newsroom systems efficiently, including Burli
- Source, write, and update stories across multiple platforms
- Be comfortable using social media
What We’re Looking For
- Experienced broadcast journalist with a strong on-air delivery
- Confident working alone and making editorial decisions
- Familiar with Burli and modern newsroom workflows
- Able to work at both short notice and longer-term cover, as required
- Reliable, flexible, and calm under pressure
Location
Live from our Rochester studios, conveniently located close to Rochester and Strood train stations
Excellent high-speed rail links to London, making commuting straightforward
