Description
Opportunity for talented storyteller and radio producer to discover and promote stories of creativity in communities across Cork.
Background
This is a very exciting time to be joining Creative Lives - a registered charity that was established in 1991. We work to address inequalities in access to creative participation, promote inclusivity, connect people and communities, and seek to increase awareness of the links between creativity and wellbeing.
For the past ten years Creative Lives has been developing a series of partnership projects with BBC local radio stations. These Creative Lives On Air projects use the power of radio to raise the profile of cultural participation and inspire more people to get involved.
Through Creative Lives On Air, we have broadcast lapsed musicians rediscovering their instruments, crafters filling woodlands with felted fungi and crocheted caterpillars, choir masters delivering therapy with song, and people keeping the lights on at local theatres. We celebrate local activity and encourage participation by letting our listeners know what's on offer and where. Linked to each broadcast is a wide range of events and outside interviews designed to ignite a creative spark, helping people see the health, social and community benefits of cultural engagement.
To date Creative Lives has worked with 15 BBC radio stations across England and Wales.
