Intro to Station/ Business: 

Cork’s 96FM & C103 is one of Ireland’s biggest and most successful local radio businesses. Operating from Broadcasting House in the city, Cork’s 96FM is the home to Lorraine & Ross in the Morning.   C103 plays Cork’s Greatest Hits from studios in both Mallow and Bandon.  Both brands attract almost a quarter of a million adult listeners across Cork City and County each week.

Your Role: In this role you will write and present hourly news bulletins for Cork’s 96FM & C103.  You will also generate audio and written content for broadcast as well as online platforms. 

Day to day you will: 

  • Collate and deliver news bulletins
  • Pitch and provide original content for multi-platform outlets, including programming and online
  • Undertake relevant background news research
  • Ensure content is compliant with media law; prevailing guidelines from Coimisiún na Meán and station editorial policies
  • Liaise with other members of the production and technical teams
  • Shift work will be required which will include early/late shifts, weekends and public holidays.

What we’re looking for from you: 

  • An energetic journalist with flair and imagination to craft relevant news content for the audience.
  • An ability to write accurate, tight and easily understood news copy.
  • Ability to work well and calmly in a live newsroom environment; handle a rapidly changing news agenda and deliver to tight deadlines.
  • Good broadcasting voice.
  • Excellent written and spoken English.
  • Knowledge and experience of audio editing - preferably Adobe - is highly desirable..
  • A willingness to engage with mobile and video journalism
  • A full clean drivers licence
