About The role

Newstalk is currently inviting candidates to apply for the role of Producer on our multi-award award winning afternoon show, Moncrieff.

Moncrieff is no ordinary programme – you will need all the pre-requisite radio and production skills but above all, we are looking for a creative thinker and someone who looks at things differently. Do you have an alternative view and approach things from a different angle?

What you’ll do -

  • Lead all aspects of daily production for the show
  • Direct, nurture and develop researchers and reporters working with the programme
  • Lead the editorial vision for the programme and forward plan accordingly
  • Produce live in studio and build a good working relationship with the presenter
  • Generate and develop creative, original and new ideas for the programme
  • Book guests and collate briefing material for the presenter.
  • React to breaking news quickly and in an appropriate manner
  • Edit and create imaginative audio pieces for the programme
  • Secure the best guests and on-air exclusives for the programme
  • Other duties as required

If the following traits sound like you, you might be the right person for the job:

  • You have a strong interest across a wide variety of subject areas including current affairs, social issues, lifestyle, entertainment and pop culture
  • You are good at developing unique radio ideas and alternative angles on existing stories
  • You have your finger on the audience’s pulse
  • You have shown strong leadership qualities in previous roles
  • You have excellent knowledge of defamation law and Coimisiún na Meán codes of conduct
  • You are proficient in recording and editing and the workings of digital and social media
  • You’re a self-starter and are driven by ambition to succeed
  • You have an ability to multi-task and work well under pressure and to deadlines
