Description

Main Role Purpose:

To support the day to day sales activities, and submitting a range of funding applications for the station under the supervision of the Sustainability & Business Development Manager. This role will also be responsible for all aspects of the fundraising activities with the organisation.

Key Task Areas:

  1. Identifying new sales opportunities through customer referrals, as well recommending improvements to current sales.
  2. Informing potential and existing customers of company promotions and preparing accurate sales and expense reports for the Board and Manager.
  3. Researching grant-making organizations and applying for funding, and approaching businesses, local authorities, and individuals to encourage donations.
  4. Organising and helping with fundraising activities such as sponsored or promotional events, as well as developing and coordinating web-based fundraising, online auctions, and sales.
  5. Increasing funds by researching and targeting charitable trusts whose criteria match the charity’s aims and activities.
  6. To keep the station safe, clean and tidy.
  7. To attend relevant training sessions.

Skills & Knowledge Essential:

  • The ability to undertake instruction and act upon to achieve results

  • The ability to manage a programme of work with focus
  • The ability to prioritise and deliver on tasks without supervision
  • The ability to write and communicate succinctly and clearly
  • The ability to use and maintain computer systems.
  • Good working knowledge of using Microsoft Suite.
  • The ability to form good working relationships with people from a wide range of social, cultural and ethnic backgrounds

Desirable

  • An understanding of media advertising (online, radio, print, OOH)
  • Knowledge of the local media market
  • Familiarity with fundraising landscape for the not-for-profit sector

  • The ability to be tactful and sensitive but assertive when appropriate

Experience, Qualifications, Training Essential:

  • Be able to communicate and negotiate new sales as well as keeping existing clients.
  • Writing scripts and working with advertisers, and for creating/assisting final advert for airplay.
  • Be knowledgeable and skilled with computing hardware and software programs, networking systems, managing databases, website design and maintenance
  • Able to learn new software & computing systems quickly and proficiently
