Beat 102 103 is hiring a full-time sports and news multiplatform broadcast journalist.

Role Responsibility

Beat 102 103 is recruiting a full-time, multi-platform, sports and news journalist/sports presenter to join the team at the Broadcast Centre in Waterford.

The ideal candidate will be a highly skilled, self-starter who is able to write, produce, record, edit, read clearly & present stories in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate must have a keen interest in sport and current affairs, locally, regionally, and nationally.

Job Responsibilities

  • Gather information, conduct interviews, produce, edit and report ‘live’ assigned stories.
  • Prepare and present news and sports bulletins.
  • Be able to write news and sports stories for both on-air and online.
  • Present a weekly sports programme – Sportsbeat Xtra.
  • Have an excellent knowledge of sport and news both locally, regionally and nationally.
  • Be available to work Tuesday to Saturday and Sundays on occasion.
  • Live match reporting.
  • Broadcasting in a LIVE studio setting.
  • Other duties as deemed necessary.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Minimum of 1-year experience in a similar radio / newspaper / digital / tv role.
  • Must have a keen interest in Sport and demonstrate initiative to source fresh local sports stories on-air and online
  • Must have experience in developing contacts, producing original stories, and working alone.
  • Must be a self-starter and strive for the best possible output.
  • Strong digital skills and knowledge of news production equipment and editing software (adobe audition/ cool edit / Premier Pro/Burli/Capcut).
  • Effective news writing, storytelling ability & reading skills.
  • Ability to identify problems and develop solutions.
  • Candidate must have strong journalistic standards and ethics.

Desired Skills & Experience

  • A college degree in Journalism, Radio/Television or related field is desirable.
  • A passion for all sport, but a thorough knowledge of GAA/Soccer/Rugby.
  • Full driver’s license.
  • Must be able to perform well under pressure, within a team, meet daily deadlines, and respond quickly to changes.
  • Must be organised and highly motivated.
  • Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
