Digital Content Creator
WLR is seeking a Digital Content Creator to plan, research and write copy for our brand-new website. The role will involve creating news stories and blog posts for WLRFM.com and the WLR app and distributing them across social media. The Digital Content Creator will work closely with station presenters, the news team, and other members of the content team to repurpose show material and audio, and curate blog posts on Waterford related content.
Roles and Responsibilities
Plan and produce well-researched story and content ideas across WLR’s online platforms, while both sticking to WLR’s best practice policy and at the same time constantly evolving the style and editorial theme.
Monitor news-gathering services such as social media, press releases, radio, WhatsApp, television, wire services, and other reporters to keep on top of Waterford related news.
Develop and follow an editorial calendar, collaborating with other members of the content production team to ensure timely delivery.
Knowledge of the use of search engine optimization (SEO) strategies in writing to maximize the online visibility of WLR’s website in search results.
Maintain WLR’s voice and tone and ensure all-around consistency (style, fonts, images).
Re purposing show material and audio from on-air to online.
Regular updating of WLR’s social channels with relevant content.
Keep up to date with news, sport, showbiz, lifestyle and pop culture and be aware of events and happenings in Waterford city and county.
Excellent written English.
Experience in managing social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok etc.
Ability to edit, package and re purpose audio using programmes such as Audition, Cool Edit etc.
Video shooting and editing/MOJO skills.
Proficiency with computers, especially writing programs, such as WordPress, Google Docs, Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
Knowledge of Google Analytics and social media insights.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with colleagues, and management.
Good time management skills, including prioritising, scheduling, and adapting, as necessary.
Ability to work on your own or as part of a team.
