Job Introduction
We are part of a world-wide multi-media group with journalists working in news teams across the UK and Ireland-wide
You will be part of Bauer Media Audio which is Europe’s leading digital commercial broadcaster and audio operator.
We reach over twenty-six million listeners daily through our market-leading broadcast radio, online services, and podcasts. With operations in 7 countries – the UK, Ireland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland, Poland and Slovakia.

The successful candidate must have an absolute passion for news and sport and an awareness that it happens 24/7. You will be driven to producing engaging and creative self-generated stories across a number of different multi-media platforms including on-air, online and across social media.
Flexibility and versatility in the role are key – news happens at any time of day or night, seven days a week so there will be an expectation for you to react to major stories outside of normal working hours.
You must have the ability to carry out your duties in a frequently high time-pressured environment working to hourly deadlines.
In all, you will be expected to deliver news content to the highest standard
Main Responsibilities
The role will include both reporting and bulletin editing responsibilities in news and sport.
REPORTING: this will involve responding to breaking stories as and when required plus producing your own stories and coming up with ideas for potentially award-winning off-diary news specials that will work on-air, online and across social media.
A key part of this job involves writing up web copy and producing online video content. These must all be delivered with accuracy, clarity and a style appropriate to our differing audiences and forms of media.
BULLETIN EDITING: scripting, editing and delivering bulletins on the hour
Person Specification
ESSENTIAL
Qualification in journalism – NCTJ or BJTC accredited or equivalent that has included training in law in journalism OR relevant degree, preferably one in Journalism or media studies
- First-class communication skills/strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to work under pressure
- Experience in working to hourly deadlines
- Good team player
- A fantastic broadcast voice
- Valid driving licence
- At least 3 months’ experience in broadcast or online journalism
- A wide and detailed knowledge of law for journalists
DESIRABLE
- A sound knowledge of sport
- Experience in radio bulletin scripting and reading
